"Well.., said Iana, I think we should increase the power to our scanners, the chief could help us there. We are going to have to ascertain just what caused the mine to detonate…was it the collision of the stars with it’s resulting "wave" or was it caused by some other event. We should be able to gather enough data while staying our present course, if we can increase the distance and depth of our scans. I agree the thought of the mine detonating because of some degradation or malfunction could be a very perilous situation. It could put many innocents in danger. Once we have had scanning and sensor capabilities increased we should we able to find the source and cause of the mine’s detonation. When we submit our report to the captain I want to be completely sure of our facts."

<<In The Quarters Of The Captain>>
Mnheia, the CaoG and the Shapeshifter talked, exchanged stories and pictures for hours while in the captain’s quarters. Occasionally the captain got up, walked over to the kitchen replicator and came back with a carafe of non-alcoholic wine and another of water. The Captain and the Shapeshifter welcomed the non-alcoholic drink and the CaoG had a bowl of water.
Suddenly the captain remembered that she had left both Nizzal and LaTrell on the bridge alone. She tapped her comm badge and when it was answered asked how things were coming on the report.
LaTrell answered that all was well and the report was almost finished. She then asked if the captain was still in her quarters. Mnheia answered yes but she would soon be heading to landing bay 1. Acknowledging this information LaTrell signed off and closed the conversation.
The CaoG looked at Mnheia when she had finished and then started to transmit a message.
~My captain, I am getting a telepathic message from my Homeworld. They are waiting for me.~
At first the captain was a bit taken aback not knowing what to say then she looked at the CaoG and thought:
~Go. Tend to your parents and complete any business you have on your Homeworld. Do not worry about sending any reports to me until you are ready to come back, or you wish to say something. Since this ship is near sector 384 and I cannot release it to take you home, how do you plan on getting to your Homeworld?~
The CaoG ‘stood up’, walked a short distance from the group, looked at the captain and thought:
~I have no intention of asking this ship to take me to my Homeworld. I do have full intentions of getting back to my Homeworld like this…~
With that thought the CaoG was slowly engulfed in a ball of bright light. It was a bit sparkly….like a transporter beam….but brighter. As both the captain and the Shapeshifter watched there was soon only a wide sharp toothed smile left where the CaoG was and Mnheia heard in her thoughts:
~Good-bye for now my captain. I will return I promise.~
Suddenly the light was gone and the room was once again lit only by the glow of the ceiling lamp. Turning to the Shapeshifter, Mnheia said:
"Well, I suppose we had best get you on your way also!"
Walking to the door both of them walked through it and down the hallway. Upon entering the turbo lift Mnheia gave instructions for it to take them to Landing Bay 1. Mnheia told the Shapeshifter the same thing about returning to her Homeworld and taking care of business. She also instructed her not to worry about sending any report until she was ready to return to the ship.
Walking into Landing Bay 1, Mnheia took the Shapeshifter up to one of the shuttlecraft. Before the Shapeshifter boarded Mnheia spoke up.
"I know you are going to be careful, but I do want to remind you that I am signing this shuttle craft out to you under my authorization. I trust you to bring it back in one piece as well as get there in one piece! Take care Angelehia and come back soon."
The Shapeshifter nodded understanding and then boarded the shuttlecraft and took the command controls. She watched as Mnheia walked back to the pressurized door of the landing bay, closed it and re-pressurized her room and then the Shapeshifter turned on the engines and slowly guided the shuttle out into open space.
Mnheia watched as the shuttle glided slowly forward and then was out of sight. She turned, walked back down the hallway and entered the turbo lift. She then gave it instructions to take her to the bridge.
On her way up Mnheia thought both about the CaoG and the Shapeshifter. She wondered if the CaoG knew how valuable it was when it came to something simple and yet important like maintaining the ships moral. Mnheia remembered the many times the unique talents of the Shapeshifter had come in handy on the many missions they had been on together.
Suddenly Mnheia felt her eyes misting over and the ship suddenly felt like a house with all the children gone…. or at least some of them.
When the turbo lift arrived at the bridge and yet before the doors snapped open Mnheia shook the feeling of being deserted from her face and wiped the mist from her eyes.
‘I still have two valuable officers,’ she reminded herself. ‘Perhaps we will obtain a larger crew shortly.’
Mnheia walked to the center of the bridge; sat down in her ‘Big Chair’ looked at both Nizzal and LaTrell and barked one word,
"REPORT!"

Nizzal mused the thought over in her mind, but said nothing. Wanting to be sure, was a good thing, but the Captain was expecting a report.
Then suddenly, as if she was reading her mind, the turbo lift arrived at the bridge, and the Captain stepped out from the lift. She walked to the center of the bridge; sat down in her ‘Big Chair’ looked at both Nizzal and LaTrell and barked one word,
"REPORT!"
Nizzal growled under her breath. She did not like to be incomplete, but she needed to report something.
"Captain, The Science officer and I have come up with several alternatives. But because of our distance away from the anomaly, we can not presently narrow it down. But we both feel it was NOT a direct attack towards the ship. While we approach the area, our scanners should be able to aid us in narrowing down, what indeed caused the anomalies."
Nizzal stood at attention, waiting for the Captain's comments, and for anything that the Science officer might add.

When Captain Mnheia emerged from the turbo lift the bridge was very quite. The only audible sound was the soft hum of machinery. The other bridge officers kept their eyes on their individual stations.
"It's like a tomb in here", thought Iana.
The sharp crack of the Captain’s words resounded throughout the bridge.
"REPORT"
Nizzal spoke up quickly and began to give her report to Captain Mnheia.
Iana listened to Nizzal and watched the Captain closely to gauge her response. Captain Mnheia’s face was as stoic as a Vulcan’s, Iana couldn’t surmise what the Captain was thinking or feeling.
"The Captain masks her feelings well", thought Iana.
Iana had compiled a vast amount of data on the Nutronic incidents. There were still vast amounts of data being scanned in … even as Nizzal gave Captain Mnheia a verbal report of their conclusions. Iana was somewhat frustrated.
"This is a new ship with all the latest technology and still I don’t have a complete report to give the Captain", she thought.
When Nizzal finished her report she looked toward Iana. Iana spoke up quickly.
"Captain, our present distance from the point of the mine’s detonation and the stars collision has left us with somewhat incomplete scans. We are still compiling data. I have boosted the scanning capability of my Science station and the Chief will no doubt be able to do the same with the ship wide scanners. The boosting of the sensors will give us more detailed information as to the source and cause of the incident.
We will be able to continue scanning and compiling data as we approach Sector 384.
I have sent a detailed data report to your personal designation with all the information we have gathered thus far."

Upon hearing this Captain Mnheia closed her eyes and saw red behind the eyelids. She rose from her ‘Big Chair’, slowly turned so she was facing her two bridge officers, grabbed on to the sides of the chair and then addressed them both.
"I have been below in my quarters for several hours. I have been with the CaoG and the Shapeshifter and am now back up on the bridge. Before I left I gave instructions that the two of you were to combine the reports that you were working on and have a hard copy delivered to me wherever I was on the ship. Like I said here I am several hours later back on the bridge…..but no report…. hard copy or otherwise." Then Captain Mnheia turned to LaTrell, "The fact that you sent a ‘detailed data report to my personal quarters’ is good, but it is in no way complies with my instructions of merging your report with Nizzal’s and getting it to me in hard copy form. " Then the captain looked at both of them. "This ship is new. It has every new scanner and gadget that you could hope for. The fact that the two of you found it necessary to give me separate reports instead of merging them is reprehensible. I want my bridge crew to work together as a team, not separate entities. Understood? Now get me a merged hardcopy report in 15 minuets! That should be extremely easy as you have had several hours to work on it."
Mnheia watched as the two bridge officers gulped.
Before either officer could get back to thier work the communications officer spoke up.

"The Captain is hopping mad", thought Iana.
Iana began compiling the hard copy report in her mind even as the Captain continued to lecture Iana and Nizzal.
Iana felt her composure slipping; the Captain’s words stung like bees.
Iana began to draw upon the Vulcan and Betazoid calming techniques that she had learned a lifetime ago at the Earth medical facility. The medical facility had saved Iana’s life as well as her soul.
Iana was quite adept at hiding her deepest feelings and she strove to acclimate herself to respond correctly in any given situation. She felt pain and shame. Iana knew that she must accept these feelings and incorporate them into her life… but it was so hard.
[I]"Move on and grow … Stop being such a baby Iana"…she said to herself.
The captain continued to berate the officers and Iana thought to herself….
The Captain is upset not just with us but also with what has been happening in her quarters.
Iana took a deep breath and focused herself. She calmed the murmuring within herself and focused instead on just what the Captain was saying.
Iana flinched slightly as she heard the Captain speak her name:
"The fact that you sent a ‘detailed data report to my personal quarters’ is good, but it is in no way complies with my instructions of merging your report with Nizzal’s and getting it to me in hard copy form. " ………………..Now get me a merged hardcopy report in 15 minuets! That should be extremely easy as you have had several hours to work on it."
Iana gulped and nodded her head towards the Captain. Iana turned to Nizzal to complete the Captain’s request when the communications officer said…..
"Excuse me ma'am. A signal....a signal unlike any that I have heard before...is coming over the communication network."
Iana immediately went to work configuring her console to download and decipher the strange signal coming in. She instantly forgot about the embarrassment and anger she felt. Could this be???????? Iana looked to Nizzal as she continued to scan and download data from the strange signal.

To be repremanded was one thing...but to be yelled at, in front of junior crew members....Nizzal hands twitched as she thought of her dagger nearby.
Then Captain Mnheia turned to LaTrell, "The fact that you sent a ‘detailed data report to my personal quarters’ is good, but it is in no way complies with my instructions of merging your report with Nizzal’s and getting it to me in hard copy form. "

"Excuse me mam. A signal....a signal unlike any that I have heard before...is coming over the communication network."
Nizzal turned, and looked towards her console. She picked up the signal, and her hands froze as she heard the signal.
'It couldnt be. It shouldnt be possible.' she thought to herself. Nizzal's anger drained from her, as the signal continued. She barely heard the Captain speaking, as she watched her console give the technical readout on the signal.
"The single, is it in any way a human signal? A Time fleet signal? Perhaps an older signal?" said Mnheia as she waited breathlessly for an answer.

Nizzal's anger flared again, as she snapped off a piece of the chair she had still been cluching onto. She barely contained the growl that wanted to rise. She clinched her teeth as she responded.
"I have many ideas Captain, but in this case I do not NEED to check anything." Nizzal turned away from the Captain, to calm herself, as she continued to speak.
"The signal we are picking up, however impossible, is coming from an Imperial Klingon Vessel, that was reported lost over 20 years ago. From its signal type, it is an old code, perhaps military. But I am not familiar with it."
Nizzal's voice grew very quiet. "It's signal identifies it as coming from the IKS Etam."
Nizzal stares down at her console. It confirms what she already knows. But she can not explain why it is there or how. She slowly moves, to check and see if she can find out WHERE the signal is coming from. IF it is coming from the same area as the eariler blast....
Nizzal did not wish to think of those implications.

Though she had been watching the exchange between Captain Mnheia and Nizzal, Iana had also been analyzing the signal that had come over the comm.
Iana focused on the data streaming across her console and saw that the signal was indeed coming from a Klingon Ship, a Bird of Prey to be exact. The signal was old and very weak. Iana’s fingers flashed across the console as she upgraded the weak signal.
"Captain….", Iana spoke up before anyone else could say a word. "I have picked up a small temporal anomaly in the general area of the signals origination."
"This could account for the signals aged appearance," mused Iana.

"Life????!!" The possibility intrigued the captain. At that moment the communications officer (NPC) looked up and said,
"Captain, I am sorry to interrupt, but I am receiving a signal from Timefleet. A signal that can be understood only sometimes. They say we are to look out for a new crewmember to be joining us shortly. They say he is skilled in the tactical office."
"Do they state his name, this new officer? He is an officer, yes?" asked captain t’Llaiir.
"It is said that his first name is Shawn. His last name was a bit garbled. His rank was garbled also, but we can assume he is an officer since he will be working as Chief Tactical."
"Of course we can assume that he is an officer if he is in charge of Tactical! When will he arrive?"
"Sorry mam……He will be arriving sometime in the next 30 minuets…I cannot narrow it down anymore then that and Timefleet was not specific either."
"Back to this temporal anomaly thing. So you think this signal, this weak signal we have just received is from an old style Bird of Pray? I wonder if they know about the peace treaty the Klingons signed fifty years ago? Or was it longer then that? I wonder if they are different then the Klingons we know today? Nizzal was silent as she listened to Iana's and the communication officers report. She was still gripping the piece of chair, but had said nothing. She heard Iana speak of an temporal anomaly in the general area. When the Captain asked LaTrell about it, she stated that the signal came from a system close to where they were heading. Nizzal didnt hear anything else, as she was deep in thought, until the Captain addressed her directly.
"Nizzal, do you have any thoughts?" asked Captain Mnheia.
Nizzal spoke very slowly. "If there are Klingons aboard that ship, then they are the same as myself." She turned and looked at the Captain. "The quesion is, could it possible be the original crew memebers, or their decendants aboard? IF it is a temporal anomaly, it could very well be the original crew."
Nizzal looked toward the viewscreen. That thought made her stomach boil. There were....issues, she rather not have to deal with, and that was definatelly one of them.
"Just a moment Captain. I have something you might be interested in. If you would check your personal viewscreen."
Nizzal quickly called up some old files about the vessel. Nizzal sent them, rather than tell the Captain outright, as she felt it was not information for all ears at the moment. And she doubt she could coax the woman into the breifing room. Her fingers flew across the board.

Iana continued to process data streaming across her interface.
The nearby star system was coming across very clearly. Iana touched the holographic interface to bring the distant star system up to a greater magnification.
The display was rather beautiful with the three suns revolving around each other in some ethereal space dance, their invisible partner gravity, keeping each dancer in place.
The Trinary suns consisted of a moderately hot white dwarf, a orange K type and a yellow G type star, similar to Earth’s. In addition to the two class M planets, the system also played host to several other planets including two gas giants and a large asteroid belt.
Iana continued to monitor the system and began to focus more intently on the anomaly.
The signal continued to broadcast as Iana cross-referenced the signal with all known codes from their database. She programmed a request to search the computer for all known Klingon data, Iana glanced at the time estimated to complete her request, "Thirty minutes … not bad", she thought.
Iana listened as the captain addressed Nizzal
"Nizzal, do you have any thoughts?"
Iana waited for Nizzal’s reply. " She still looks pretty mad … she could shoot lasers out of those eyes", thought Iana.
"The question is, could it possible be the original crew members, or their descendants aboard? IF it is a temporal anomaly, it could very well be the original crew."
Nizzal continued on to say she had some "eyes only" information for the Captain. Iana was instantly on alert.
"What could it be that Nizzal believed the bridge crew couldn’t share in the information."
Iana couldn’t think of what it could be.

"Nizzal," said the captain, "Let me talk to you in my quarters please, immediately."
Complying Nizzal followed the captain into the briefing room leaving LaTrell on the bridge and in charge temporarily with the communication officer (NPC) and the helm officer (NPC).
"If the IKS Etam is what is responsible for this temporal thing then I need to know in order to protect this ship. In your opinion, your best opinion, is the IKS Etam responsible? Also, do you know HOW it was ‘specially equipped’ and what ‘covert tests’ it was performing in this area when it vanished? All this information could very well have a bearing on what I need to do to protect this vessel," emphasized the captain as she looked sternly at Nizzal.
Nizzal informed the captain that both the special equipment and covert tests were not a part of the Klingon database. It was a fair guess considering the tensions of the times that they were designed to help the Klingon Empire expand however. As far as the ‘temporal thing’ was concerned Nizzal felt that the IKS Etam was responsible but why it was caught up and not some other ship or bypassed all together she was not sure. She was in charge of Security and not Science after all.
Just then the captain’s comm badge ‘chirped’. Upon answering it the voice of the communications officer came over it.
"Mam, the captain of the Klingon vessel the IKS Etam wants to talk with you," came the voice.
The captain heard the tension in the voice and her eyebrows raised. Reaching for the comm badge she replied, "Lt, what is wrong? What are you not saying?"
"The captain of the IKS Etam, he did not ask to speak to you, he DEMANDED to speak to you. And mam, he does not seem friendly at all," responded communications (NPC).
The captain gave the communication officer permission to pipe the image of the Klingon commander onto the viewer of the main deck as soon as she returned there. As Nizzal watched the Captain read the information she had sent, she was begining to experience a strange sensation. She didnt know how to cope with this new problem. If it was indeed the crew from the Etam...and if that ship was still functional, she would be put in a 'delicate' situation. While Nizzal was not a part of the Klingon military, there were still things she could not speak of. The Etam was spoke in reverance, in some parts of the old Empire.
<<<In The Briefing Room of The RVH Venture>>>
Nizzal snaped to attention when the Captain asked Nizzal to follow her to the briefing room. The meeting was brief. There was not much that Nizzal really knew, about the original mission of the ship. It had all been classified.
Just then the Captain's comm badge chirped. Upon answering it the voice of the communications officer came over it, saying that the Captain of the IKS Etam wanted to speak to this ships Captain.
Nizzal's felt as if her heart had suddenly stopped beating. She shook her head slightly. She wondered who's face she would see on the screen.
The captain gave the communication officer permission to pipe the image of the Klingon commander onto the viewer of the main deck as soon as she returned there. Nizzal could only look at the Captain for a few moments. If the woman had sprouted wings and a horn, and took off flying, couldnt suprise her any more than what she felt right now. Realizing the Captain was waiting for a response, she swallowed slowly, before she responded.
"The reason I sent the information directly to you Captain, is I believe it is YOUR call to decided who should see what information. The IKS Etam is a rather sensative subject to the Empire, somthing not to be passed around to many." Nizzal shifted in place. "That it was a heavily equiped warbird. It was supposedly experimenting with a new type of cloaking device...but, that is all I know."
Nizzal looked towards the door, leading back to the bridge. "The stories of that ship have been passed down through my family, for several generations..." Nizzal frowned, looking away. She slowly crossed her arms up around her chest. "As for anything else personal,.....it can wait." The look on Nizzal's face was clear, that it was not up for discussion.
