Still young and a bit inexperienced, Alex enlisted in Starfleet requesting Intelligence as her specialty assignment as soon as she graduated high school. Eager to see and explore the galaxy, her parents who were not the most-well off, agreed to her enlistment provided that she eventually got a college-level education. Although she requested assignment on a Starship, she was assigned to Starbase Zeta. A bit unhappy at first, her opinion of the 'boredom' of being on a Starbase was changed when she was assigned to be Officer Charity Yoon's assistant. Quickly becoming friends, Charity helped her through the tough times in her career and taught her the workings of Starfleet, eventually resulting in Alex's promotion to Petty Officer, Third Class. Although, she still has much to learn.
